The required password to enter your Belkin dashboard prevents unauthorized users from changing your settings, but it may prevent you from doing the same if you've forgotten your password or are trying to set up a secondhand router. Similarly, Wi-Fi passwords block others from using your wireless network and connected resources, like a printer. Belkin has provided ways to access either the control panel or network even if you have forgotten these passwords or you're using a secondhand router.
1.
Log in to your Belkin router control panel by opening your browser, typing 'http://192.168.2.1' into the address bar and pressing 'Enter.' If you have yet to set up the password, do not type in any password, as there is no password by default. Simply clicking the log in button will give you access to the control panel.
2.
Log in to your router control panel and Wi-Fi Protected Setup to allow wireless users who are accessing the network for the first time. Click 'Push Button Configuration (PBC)' to initiate WPS, which will allow wireless users to log on to your network even if you do not have access to the router.
3.
Press and hold the WPS button on your Belkin router to enable Wi-Fi Protected Setup, which will allow compatible wireless devices to connect without entering a password. Search for networks with your wireless device, select the Belkin network and connect.
4.
Locate the reset button on the back of your Belkin router if you cannot log in to the dashboard at all. Press and hold the button for 15 seconds. This will reset your admin and Wi-Fi password and all router settings, so you will have to log in to the dashboard and customize settings to your needs.
Tips
You can back up your router settings by logging in to the dashboard and clicking 'Save/Backup Settings under' from the Utilities section. If you must reset your router at any time, this will restore your settings. Make sure to create a backup any time you switch settings.
Resetting your router will delete any firmware upgrades you may have made via the dashboard. You'll see a prompt to download the newest firmware if any is available after logging in.
Warnings
Not all wireless routers have a WPS button. If yours doesn't, resetting the entire router may be your only option to log in.
WPS expires within two minutes. If a device is unable to connect within that time, you must press the hardware or software button to begin the process again.
